First half of 2008 was pretty bad. Had 3 losing months out of 6.

My last 6 months have been all profitable and in that time I've also been to Las Vegas twice, Barcelona, Bangkok/Melbourne and Budapest! About 100 hours stuck on a plane! Which might explain why I keep having dreams where I am flying and cannot stay on the ground like a helium balloon.

MTT wise, I have won 23 tournaments this year to take my all time wins to 124.

Overall it looks like I'll make about 30% less than last year which is probably due to me playing 30% less lol

Enjoyed a nice couple of days in Budapest and played in the PokerStars.com Budapest Poker Open (BPO) like a complete maniac as my strategy was to win all the chips in Day1a. Got busted pretty quickly as I lost most of my chips with an open straight against top and bottom sets!

It gave me time to go from the Tropicana Casino to the Las Vegas Casino to play in the Pot Limit Omaha Second Chance tournament but my KKAx got cracked by Kxxx in 6th place, top 4 paid after a deal :(

FRIDAY PLO8B REPORT:

Only 47 runners. Top 9 paid though with 9th getting £500 and 1st £8,000. The tourney ended up being a double chance (4000 and 4000 chips). After all the players had added their extra chips I went down to 4k after my wheel wrap lost to top pair. Then with 14 players left, I had 7.1k with blinds 600/1200. UTG I raised the pot with A2h3h4. Paul Parker called on my left and McCool on the big blind. McCool checked the 35hJh flop and I shoved my remaining 2.9k. Both players called but the turn and river bricked out and I think Parker won with just a pair of Jacks lol. I had like 26 outs twice with 22 of them scooping a 21.9k pot with which I would have def made the final table grrrrrrrrrr

SUNDAY PLO REPORT:

80 players for a £40k prizepool, just under £14k for first. I was one of the early chip leaders thanks to a triple up with Aces and then a nearly a double up after I flopped quads on a QKQ flop and my unlucky opponent had KK. After that I was card dead all the way into the final table which I just made as the short stack. 9th place busted when his AAxx lost to TTxx so I was now guaranteed £1.5k.

With 23k I posted the BB of 3k and found AA98. Simon Trumper limped, Marc Goodwin limped and Robin Keston made up the SB. I raise the pot but only Goodwin folded. Flop T74 and I push in my remaining 8k after Keston checked, Trumper then goes all in for 18.5k total and Keaston folds. I think Trumper had 7653 and hit a 5 on the river. Still, £1500 for 8th for +36% ROI overall.

The results of the BlueSquarePoker October Power Hour were announced today.

I became the first Poker Hour challenge winner (8 $30+ STT wins in 1 hour) to scoop a $3680 VIP Vegas trip. (I also picked up first place in the $1-$5 tier (12 STT wins) bagging $200 and just missed out on first place in the middle tier (8 $10-$20 STT wins), losing out to a better wins to games ratio, but still picking up $250).

To win the Vegas trip I played in 31x($30+$3) 6 handed STTs (that started within an hour) in total ($1023 investment) and during play at the start my roll was around -$700 (so I guess I had started/was playing 20 games) until the STTs started finishing and I managed to win 8 and come second 8 times for $417 profit in the session too (40%+ ROI).

I should be in Sin City again whilst the 2008 Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic is in town!

Not much to report. Mel Judah was at my Loose Cannon table. I picked up KK in early position. 50/100 level, I open raise (I had been the most active), Golden ticket winner re-raises me. I 4-bet and he shoves. Almost passed but since I couldnt really play all day Sunday (online MTT commitments) and wanted to go to party Saturday night I called knowing there was >70% chance he had Aces! He did and I was one of the first 10 people out I think.

That left the rest of the day free to check out the WSOPE at the Empire and eat a nice chinese meal in Chinatown before a bday/engagement party at Mahiki which was pretty cool!

Congrats to MadDuke (who won the last Virgin Festival main event) for making back-to-back final tables!

Currently the Top Tournament Olympian in the 32Red Poker Olympics. I am 1st in the Stud leaderboard, 2nd in Holdem and 6th in Omaha.

In the Devilfish Poker Devilympics I am currently 8th despite having some very bad luck and not winning any of the 20 events so far! Also, top of the Synchronised Winnings league in the BlueSquare Pokolympics with 5 10-man STT wins in one hour on my first attempt.

There are three 32Red Poker Olympic events and five Devilympics events tonight so all will change!

So I spent Monday, til after midnight, analysing some 3/6 and 5/10 NLHE games on 32RedPoker and at the end I was ready for a little session of $3/6 NLHE on Full Tilt Poker. That little session of 226 hands cost me $1540 and I ended up being, overall, a $1338 loser to: b9291974.

He started off by runner runnering me in a $192 pot. I kept check calling his 5-high bluffs and made 2 pair on the river. I just check called the river too because I was sure he was bluffing but he had rivered a runner runner straight.

I lost a $898 pot cold calling with AQ from the SB versus his open raise from the cut off (KK) on a Q72 rainbow flop, safe turn, safe river. I put him on KK as the only hand that beats me in his range when he called my check raise on the flop but his small turn and river bets but some doubt in my mind and so he milked me.

Lost $536 pot to same player when our hands were reversed. I 3-bet with KK from BB. He calls and I check the AQx suited flop, he checks also. I bet the turn and he calls, I put him on AJ/AQ as the only hand that beats me and check call the small river bet thinking he wouldn't have checked the suited flop with an ace and my river check could also have induced a bluff. He turns over AQ!

Final straw, same player, I lose a $1239 pot when I know I got him crushed to a 2 outer. I knew the Jack was coming too.

Many thanks to b9291974 who has confirmed how bad I am running at the moment. Down almost $2500 this month already.

My bankroll is now less than 25% of what it was before Las Vegas due to losses, expenses and withdrawals. In fact, I noticed my downswing start in late December 2007 where my bad beat quota went through the roof. I'm still up this year, but my total 2008 profit is almost less than my average monthly profit between Jan 2005 - Dec 2007!

July Summary

In July I returned from Las Vegas and concentrated on online poker tournament play - cashing in 39 online ranking qualifying tournaments between the 15th and 31st of July. Being Italian, my aim was to get into the current sliding top 10 rankings for Italy on PocketFives.

I did that by just play low stakes tournaments as I wanted to get the maximum of 40 cashes that count for the rankings as soon as possible ans see how the rankings work. There is a limit of 24 max results from one site hence I decided to cash in all the sites that contribute to the score to see that the scores are uploading correctly and to give me alternative options.

I managed to get into the Top 10 just before the end of July and so now I can say "I'm in the Top 10 Italian online poker tournament players in the world!" hehe sounds good ;)

In August, I will be concentrating on online cash games. Didn't start too good yesterday though as I blew over $600 on tilt.

The stat is just a bit of fun though as there are only 50 Italians registered! Still, I'm trying to get into the top 10 as a challenge as soon as possible so that I can concentrate on cash games! ;)

My 3 week trip to Vegas cost over $7,000. $1,575 of which was tournament buy-ins. I broke even if not made a slight profit on cash games and thus the rest went on hotels, travel and other expenses.

Been in Vegas just under 10 days and haven't played much poker really. Today I played the $340 Caesars Palace Deep Stack event and was crippled when my AA lost to 88.

Last night I played a $175 satellite for a WSOP $1500 event and was chip leader 4 handed until I lost to a series of bad beats to finish 4th.

The only other tournament I have played was the $160 PLO8B at Binions and there by AAxx lost to A4xx after two 4s hit the flop.

Only played 2 sessions of NL cash games at Golden Nugget and Gold Coast and I am up on those.

Apart from that, I've just been having a good time in Vegas going to places such Voodoo Lounge, Glitter Gulch, Sapphires and Spearmint Rhino. The lack of PLO and PLO8B games have kept me out of the casinos!

Probably my worst start to a month ever as today marked my 5th losing day in a row after donking off $2,000 in PL/NL Omaha Hi-Lo cash games on FullTiltPoker!

In the Billionth Hand Bubble Hand freeroll on iPoker, ChristopherEucker won the $5,000 bounty on wootrigged by hitting a flush on the river. I finished 117/419 for zilch after being crippled by T7 on the river. Then I had to move in with T9, got called by Q8 hit a 9 on the turn but got flushed out on the river.

Spent a couple of days recently playing a few tournaments that qualify for the Pocket5s rankings and as a result I'm 18th in the Italian online MTT rankings at the moment.

The Billionth Hand on iPoker was just dealt with a $50,000 bonus going to the winner (wootrigged from Finland) with the other players in the hand splitting $30,000!

I was playing 15 heads-up tables and the closest I got to was hand 999,999,990!

Apparently, the participants in the hands numbered 999,999,901 - 1,000,000,000 (total of 100 hands) will participate in a freeroll with a total prize pool of $10,000. The Billionth Hand winner will have a $2,500 bounty in this tournament.

Didn't play much in April due to no broadband for a few weeks but it led to my second losing month of the year. On the last day I was trying to win back to back $10,000 packages on the World Poker Tour site but only managed to finish 6th this time. I should have at least got to heads-up but at the final table I tried to bust 2 shortish stacks but lost 88 v KQ and then 33 v QQ (I put him on AK/AQ and would have won). Finally, lost AK v 99 after I re-raised all-in pre-flop and was called - K9xxK board and I was out.

GCBPT Nottingham Side Events

Spent about $2,000 in Nottingham playing the GCBPT side events and cash games. In the tournaments I only managed to finish in the top 50 out of 130+ in both despite them having a patience factor of over 10. They played a lot faster than the skill level seemed to suggest though.

I made some money in the cash games the first night I was there. The second day though I lost a bit playing blackjack and roulette and then after getting knocked out of the tournament I decided to donate over $1,000 playing under bad conditions in the the Dealer's Choice game. I was so tired that I even started hallucinating and despite that carried on playing.

Part of the reason why I just wanted to play was that I hadn't played poker for a couple of weeks since I have been without internet for a while. I'm typing this from my back up dial-up connection - can't believe how slooooooooooooow it is and I think it will be another week til I'll be playing online again.

I'll be using the time to improve my game I think and trying to sort out to use the $10,000 buy-in I won on WPT last time to play some events in the WSOP rather than the main event in the Barcelona WPT.

$10,000 WPT Package Win

Finally had a bit of luck and won a $10,000 WPT package after a hard fought tournament on the World Poker Tour online poker room.

I lost half my stack early on after I open raised with AK got one caller behind me and my C-Bet on the A95 flop was min raised. I put him on a set or A9 straight away but after the turn was checked (5) and the river was another 9 I fired out a blocking bet. The guy raised though and I knew the only hand a could beat was AQ, still, with big pot odds I made the call after I told him I thought he had quads. Sure enough he took the pot with quad 9s!

I got my revenge by busting him at the final table though and I then went on to win it:

Haven't decided which event I will use the buy-in for yet but I am looking forward to playing my first WPT event. Another $10,000 seat will be given away at the end of April and you can qualify for the final by playing on the WorldPokerTour.com!

February was my second worst month out of 38. I lost over $3500 in total. The month ended with a a little $11 rebuy satellite for a $115 seat.

I wasn't going to play it as the first 2 players registered for it I knew were both from Leicester and their aliases and home town were both written in capital letters.

My suspicions were further strengthened when of them asked the other where abouts in Leicester they were from (lol) 1REALDEAL1 (LEICESTER) decided not to answer SOYABEAN72 (LEICESTER)'s question. What followed was one of the most awful games of poker I've ever played.

It started with a slowroll by SOYABEAN72. The game now 3 handed, the chip leader, 1REALDEAL1, intentionally began to stall the progress of the game by running down the clock every hand with over 20 minutes of the rebuy period still to go! I think he thought he was using some super cool $11 satellite strategy to try to win $115 oohhhhhhhhh! lol Talk about trying to get an edge. Guess he learnt a lot at the WPT bootcamp he attended that he so proudly shows off on his profile.

In order to combat his stalling I had to make it a preflop game so that the stalling player couldnt stall pre-flop, on the flop, on the turn and on the river as he wanted too. I was trying to either insta fold or insta push preflop.

Eventually, we got to the the freezeout stage with one $115 seat for first place and $57 for second. I wasn't gonna let these muckers bubble me as I'd just bubbled in a previous satellite. The odds were against me though as I was the short stack, having invested $100 and against 2 players from Leicester with questionable poker ethics. Things were not looking good.

For once though the bad guys didnt win as I busted both of these mofos!

Didn't think I could run any worse but then my Kings full lose to Quad tens on a [ S10 C10 CK ] flop (The flop even spells SICK!) while at the same time my QQ goes down to AJ in the Hendon Mob League.
